Last night I got to go to a super fun wine dinner and opera at Jacksons restaurant with friends and family!! It was such a fun concept.  How cute is my Mama??

I made these chicken thighs this week from Ina’s new cookbook and they were so darn good!! Really simple, but so flavorful.  We served it with some sautéed veggies and quinoa and it was perfect.  I will share the recipe next week!!

My babysitter took this photo last night while I was at the dinner and I was like, wow! Seriously, she can get them all to smile for a picture like it’s nothing and I have to bribe their entire Halloween candy and maybe get one to look at the camera!!

I have had so much fun selling my clothes over at The Saved Collection.  Yesterday was a big success. There are just a few items left!  One is this dress that I’m wearing in this photo. I wish I had a full length photo because its so cute!

This is my sixth post this week (this one is getting posted a couple of days late)!  Who am I??? I’ve actually published a post every day this week starting on Sunday.  That seems crazy because I’ve been feeling so behind lately.  But I have done a lot of catching up this week and it feels so good!

I was pretty shocked this week when I did a quick poll on instagram asking followers whether they enjoyed seeing bloggers talk into the camera to them and discuss day to day things like we were talking over coffee.   Sometimes I think it can be a bit excessive which is why I asked and wanted to hear from the audience.  It turns out many of you really like it.  And I totally get it.  I think it makes you feel like you know the blogger better and get to see their day to day personality.  I appreciate following along and my feelings are that I will try to interact more on stories but also type something on the video so if you can’t listen to the audio, you still get the gist of what I’m talking about :).

We had a super unexpected family dinner this past Wednesday and it made me so happy.  Look how nasty and dirty my hair is???  I ended up having both of my brothers and my Mom to my house and I loved it so much.  I love having my family close by and these last minute get togethers are my favorite

Girls Birthday Dinner at Urban Swinery

Thursday night I got to go out to celebrate my friend Courtney’s birthday! We had a girls dinner at a new restaurant in town called, Urban Swinery.  It’s a really cute atmosphere with a pretty interesting menu.  We ended up sharing a bunch of appetizers and salads which was pretty fun.

New Sleep Number Bed

I’m embarrassed to tell you how many bed we have been through in the last five years. Well, this will be our 3rd.  We had a tempurpedic type mattress first, didn’t like it.  Then we got a pillow top and it formed a dip in the middle of the bed and my husband hated it.  Now, we just had a sleep number delivered this week.  Its pretty cool so far and the top of the bed raises when you are watching tv or whatever and both of us now get to control how soft or firm we want the mattress.  Hubby likes his side firm and I like mine softer.  So we will see how it goes!  Does anyone have one? What do you think?

Hello friends! I’m just going to start by saying that I just feel so behind.  And I know I really shouldn’t feel bad about it.  I have a new baby for heaven’s sake!  But I still do.  I have so much content that I want to get out to you guys that is just sitting in my draft box. So much stuff that I am so excited about.  I have a brand new updated baby registry list that I just love and think you guy will love too.  I have Molly’s nursery reveal that I’m dying to share and a few of my special tips on how to help get your newborn to sleep through the night.  I have a guide to Pensacola that has been sitting for so long and has been highly requested especially by all my sweet Navy wive readers.  I just hate that I can’t get it all done.  But it will come and things will slow down.  In the meantime, I kind of miss my non-structured, brain-dump type posts that I pull straight from my iPhone; so that’s what I’m going to give you today! Here’s my five on Friday

{One}

We made this Two-Ingredient Pumpkin bread this week and it’s such a hit.  It really is just two ingredients too!  You can make muffins, mini bundt cakes, mini bread loaves, big bread loaves, whatever you want.  They make great little gifts for neighbors, teachers, friends, or family too.

{Two}

I also made this artichoke and mushroom dip this week.  It’s one of our favorite hot dips! Perfect for football weekends.

{Three}

We spent most of this week watching the Weather Channel on pins and needles over Hurricane Michael. What a scary storm we had in the Gulf of Mexico.  So many of you were so sweet to send messages to check on my family.  Thankfully, Pensacola missed the storm completely pretty much.  We barely ended up getting any rain and just a little wind.  The beautiful beach towns to the east of us were not so lucky.  It was complete devastation from Panama City to Tallahassee.  It makes me so sad to see the images out there.  Pensacola saw that type of devastation in 2004 with Hurricane Ivan.  It was horrific.  We lost my childhood home and many of our childhood photos and memorabilia in that storm.  I know so many families are feeling incredible sadness and loss during this time.   So many prayers needed as these towns slowly pick the pieces back up.

{Four}

Brody and I went into the Halloween costume store this week and I let him pick out his costume.  He’s pretty stoked to be Captain America.  I’m pretty sure we will see him in it every day between now and Halloween.

{Five}

I really had to go to the costume store for me though!  I go to an annual Witches party that my sweet friend throws for her birthday every year.  I needed a new witches outfit so I picked out Sandy Sanderson from Hocus Pocus.  Please ignore the size of my lady lumps in this picture.  I blame it on the milk!!  This witches party is amazing though!! Like incredible decorations and the most amazing Halloween tablescape every single year.  My photos never do it justice because the lighting is so hard, but it’s so pretty.

That’s it friends.  Were hanging at home this weekend and have some family coming in town to visit.  We will be doing some soccer and birthday party fun with friends and just chilling!  Hope you have a great one!

Happy Friday!!  This post was supposed to be my Thoughts for Thursday post yesterday, but I never managed to get it finished up and posted.  So here I am today for a little Five on Friday!

{One}

Ill start with little miss Madelyn.  We transitioned her into Brody’s bedroom towards the end of June and things started off SO well.  I was amazed at how easy it was.  But since then, we’ve had a few regressions.  I’m feeling like the main reason for the regression is really just all about Mommy time.  She has been so super clingy lately and wants me all the time.  When we lay down in bed at night…usually me in her bed and Matt in Brody’s bed, she just doesn’t want me to leave at night.  Then she has been walking into our room once or twice during the night trying to get herself in bed with me.  It’s so tough, but I’m just trying to set good habits before the new baby comes.  Hopefully we can get back on track soon!

{Two}

On instagram this week, I asked followers if they had any great recommendations for getting the yellow staining off of baby clothes.  I was sorting through so many of Madelylns old baby clothes and they had a lot of spit up staining on them.  I thought I had remembered trying one method on the clothes before I packed them all away (that was soaking them in a tub of oxiclean), but obviously that did not get all the stains out.  So you guys came through with so many amazing suggestions and asked me to share them.  The top two responses for getting out stains were these:

1)Use a mix of 2 parts hydrogen peroxide, 1 part blue dawn, and some baking soda to help make it a paste.  Put it on stays for 1 hour and then wash.

2)Make a bath of warm water with a bunch of scoops (4-6) of Oxiclean powder and let it sit for 24 hours.

And the third biggest thing was using sunlight to dry the clothes after they have been washed because it helps bleach out the yellow stains also!!

So I tried #1 and had amazing results!!  I couldn’t believe it.  With a lot of the clothes, I did the process twice to get them back to perfect and then just had to use the dryer to dry them because we have had rain all week and no sunlight.  It still worked great.

*** This is important though:  The peroxide can act as a bleaching agent and I had one outfit that was light blue that I used it on and it seemed to bleach out the color and I’m pretty sure is going to be ruined.  So I am bummed about that, but every other outfit I did looked amazing.  They were all whites and light pinks and I didn’t have any problem at all!

*** I also had a reader tell me to be careful with the 24 hour oxiclean soak because they found that the oxiclean was somehow eating away at the snap buttons on things like Kissy Kissy gowns.   I don’t know this from personal experience, but something to be careful of if you try!

I’ve been really enjoying my Simplified Planner lately and trying to be so diligent about getting through my to-do lists as I get ready for baby 3.   All of the stickers are just too fun and make it look so happy. I use the daily edition and I love it.  I am anxious to get through the month of August as we wait on baby and get the kiddos back into the routine of school!

The Staircase on Netflix.  Who’s been watching??  I finally finished it and feel so conflicted.  What are yall’s thoughts? Do you have a strong feeling towards definitely guilty or not??  I’d love to hear your opinions because on one hand I thought he was totally guilty (duh), but then I was feeling maybe not………

I haven’t done a five on Friday in awhile, so I thought I would share a few things happening from the week!

One. Brody’s 5th birthday

We celebrated Brody’s 5th birthday on Wednesday and had the best time.  I will do a whole post about it.  It ended up much more elaborate than I had planned, but it was worth all the work.  A week before his birthday, I had absolutely nothing planned and end up scrambling for something when we came across an inflatable Shark water slide that led to the whole party theme.

Two.  In Lieu of Gifts…

I always struggle around birthday’s with the gifts… Between us, Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles, our kids end up getting so many gifts for holidays directly from our family.  I love to do the “no gifts please” on invites; but as the kids get older, I know that can be harder to get away with.  I asked the guests for Brody’s party to bring a gift card for the families at our local hospital in the Pediatric Cancer Center. One of my friends is a nurse there and she said that many families travel to come here and that so many times they just need money for food close by.  So we asked the guests to bring gift cards and it made me so happy :).  It worked out that Brody still got gifts from some families, but many brought gift cards and I think he understood that he was giving to families in need.  It was a win-win!!

Three.  Demolition Day

Yesterday was demolition day!  I posted some photos and videos of it on instagram last night and I know I got lots of questions.  So the story is this…Almost 3 years ago, we bought this house knowing we would eventually build on it.  We have rented it out for the last 3 years and over the last year, we have been working on house plans.  Today, the tractors rolled in,  and the kids got to watch them demo the place down! It was really fun to watch.  We will start building sometime this year and I’ll be sure to keep ya’ll posted!

Four.  Potty Training

I can’t believe we started this journey with Madelyn a month ago!  I have a whole post planned for you to discuss what we did and how we got it done.  I will say that I didn’t use any specific book or special training methods.  I really just went with the whole stay-at-home for several days and put them on the potty a lot!  Day one she didn’t do anything on the potty; but on day two, she peed for the first time and that’s all it took! Poop took about two weeks, but I will go into all the details on separate post.  If you have any specific questions, leave them in the comments and I will address them in the post.  Madelyn was 2 years 9 months when we started potty training.

Five. Rosemary Beach

I was hoping to have our vacation recap up on the blog for you guys already, but I’ve failed.  I get a lot of questions about Rosemary, so I was thinking about doing a detailed posts about FAQ’s and more of a travel guide then just a recap of our week.  So if you have any specific questions that you would like answered, leave them for me below and I will answer them in a post!

For some reason this week has seemed really long.  My kids seemed to be fighting with each other a lot more than normal and my husband had round 2 of a fever virus that hit him and the two kids last week.  Anyway, I’m glad it’s Friday!  I did squeeze in a few fun things this week too.

Me and Brody had a little day date to go see the new Despicable Me 3 movie.  I have to admit that I am not a fan of these minion movies, but he loves them.  So we went even though I’m pretty sure he just goes for the snacks

{two}

My two brothers and I were able to get out for dinner one night this week together.   It was so much fun!  We all see each other a decent amount but usually there our kids running around or lots of people and we hardly get to catch up.  This time we really got to chat and it made it so fun!

{three}

We have a family wedding in Martha’s Vineyard next week and we are so excited.  We have never been before and are excited to explore.  Please send any recommendations my way if you have visited!!

My friend Morgan at Pampers and Pearls came out of a blogging hiatus yesterday with her first post back in about 7 months.  She opens up about coming off a tough year and what she has done to change it!   It’s a great, authentic read and you should go check it out.

Finally, its the last weekend the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.  I’m sure most of you are so happy to see it gone! I left a few bigger ticket items out of my #nsale purchases so far and now I’m anxious trying to decide whether I should pick one up or not.  I’ve had my eye on this the entire time and think I need to take the plunge.  I haven’t purchased any bags either, but I’ve been eyeing this one.

These jeans are still available in all sizes which I’m surprised. I’ve actually never owned a pair of boyfriend jeans before and didn’t think they would ever look good on me.  Ya’ll, I’m obsessed with these.  I don’t know what I was thinking.  I ordered my true size because I wanted to make sure they were a looser fit.  They do say they run large.  I think I might live in these and throw all my skinny jeans away! haha.  I might have to pair them with this cute Off the Shoulder Velvet Top.

This is still probably my favorite top from the sale.  So simple but so soft.  It comes in lots of cute colors and still available in all sizes too!  This top is a favorite to though.

Madelyn finished her last day of ISR swim lessons today!!! She did awesome.  I’m so proud of her, but also so thankful to be done!! It’s quite the commitment, but so worth it.

{TWO}

I’ve been listening to the new Podcast, Sworn, this week.  It is from the creators of Up and Vanished and shares short stories of crime cases that haven’t been solved.  The show is just beginning, but if you loved Up and Vanished or like any type of crime shows, you will love this!

{THREE}

I’m starting to see Lipsense pop up all over social media now.  I’ve been using it for over a month now and already have 4 colors.  I have become obsessed! I love the pop of color and now that the tingling sensation is gone when I apply it, it’s just perfect.  My newest color is Pink for a Cause and it’s awesome!! You will see it on me in a photo below.  It’s hot pink, so beware :). You can learn all about Lipsense from my friend Emily, here.

{FOUR}

When Summer is in full swing, this is one of my favorite things to make! Tomato Pie.  I’ve been growing fresh basil and able to get some delicious tomatoes and been making this often!  It’s great for lunch and dinner.  I promise you will love it even if you don’t LOVE tomatoes.  It’s amazing.

{FIVE}

We took family photos last night at the beach and it was so much fun.  And I usually hate taking family photos because it’s so stressful with young kids.  We did it around 7pm and the kids ran on the beach, I bribed them with marshmallows and we jammed to some Moana, Trolls and Journey.  We took photos with Annabelle Rose this past winter too and I realized I never shared them all with you guys.  I was hoping to put together a Q&A with her to share and I never did it.  So I hope to do one soon and share our new photos

Dash buttons with Amazon

Has anyone been using these?  My friend was just telling me about them on our trip to Miami.  I had never heard of them.  You can actually be sent a physical button or you can use your phone or the website.  It is meant to make an easy order for items that you regularly restock using Amazon.  I actually haven’t purchased my paper towels and toilet paper from them in the past, but I’m going to start now!!

Speaking of Amazon, how about this new gadget???  We are huge Alexa fans in our house.  We use ours all the time.  They have now come out with a camera that snaps a quick photo of your look.  It kind of cracks me up because it was like they purposely came out with this for fashion bloggers.  You have to watch the video.

Southern Charm Savannah

I’m obsessed with Southern Charm Charleston.  I just love it.  I love the characters (mostly Shep and Cameron) and I just love the fashion and drama.  I’m not sure what I think about another one coming out, but I’m sure I’ll watch it and love it.  What do ya’ll think??

Below Deck Mediterranean

Another Bravo show, but I love some Below Deck too!! I actually like the Caribbean series better, but they just started with Below Deck Mediterranean this week.  It is mostly new cast members, so only time will tell if I like them or not.  Do you guys watch this show??

My Favorite off Shoulder Dress

I liked this dress so much in the orange, that I had to buy it in blue too.  It’s so comfortable, a great weight and looks really cute so many different ways.  I love it dressed up with heels or down with flats.  I love that you can wear fun statement earrings with it or just simple ones with a long necklace.  It comes in seven different colors and it runs a little bit big.

Spring Cleaning

I’ve definitely been having the urge to purge this Spring.  There are all these little things that I want to do around the house whether it be organize, clean, giveaway, etc.  I’m working on trying to do it little by little.  As I’ve been trying to clean, I’ve had to look up handy, dandy little tricks to help me along the way.  I thought I would share them with all of you in case they might help you around the house too :).  So here they are:

How To Remove Lipstick From Wine Glasses

We kept looking in our bar at all of our wine glasses and noticing that they all still locked dirty.  I thought I washed them well making sure to clean the rim and loved using our baby bottle brush to get a full clean in the glass.  The truth was that it was still leaving lip prints on the rim.

Take a flour cloth or just a paper towel with a dap of white vinegar on it and wipe the entire rim.   It’s amazing and takes the lipstick off immediately. Then proceed to clean the rest of the glass as usual.  As I mentioned above, I like to use our baby bottle brush.  It fits in the glasses (including champagne flutes) perfectly.

How To Clean A Front Loader Washing Machine

Ugh…This one totally grosses me out.  I swear I will never have another front loader.  We’ve had two in a row now and mainly because I was adamant that we needed the folding space in our small laundry room.  Now I see all the mold that grows in it and I’m totally disgusted.  Our laundry room is small and narrow, so we’ve done a terrible job of letting it air out by keeping the door open.  I’ve been working on trying to keep it cleaner and remove all the nasty mold that builds up on the rubber and around the drum.  Here’s my best cleaning solution that we’ve used:

Soak a white towel in a 50:50 mixture of bleach and warm water and let it sit on the mold for an hour or so. Then wipe out the gaskets. Throw the dirty bleach soaked towels in the drum and run a wash cycle on the hottest cycle you have.

Pour two cups of vinegar into the drum and run another hot cycle. Next wipe the machine’s exterior with a 50:50 mix of white vinegar and water. It should be nice and clean now!

To prevent future mold, try to keep your washing machine door open.  I have also used these Affresh cleaners in the washing machine, but I think you still have to do a thorough clean like this too.

How To Make Your Towels Smell Fresh Again

We’ve had the worst time with dingy, stinky towels!! I kind of blame it on my husband because a lot of times he will throw a load of towel in the washer and I don’t know about it and then he leaves it there for hours (or overnight) and next thing we know, we have the worst smelling towels.  So, I’ve been determined to try to find a solution for this.

Here’s the trick: Wash your towels in hot water with one cup of vinegar (only) in the dispenser. Wash towels in hot water again with 1/2 cup of baking soda in the drum. Throw them in the dryer and enjoy your fresh towels!

How To Plant an Herb Garden

This is somewhat simple, but I do attempt to plant one every year and I feel like this year is my best one EVER.  I usually go for a smaller pot that I keep on our back porch and they inevitably die! Every.year.  But this time I brought in the help of an expert and he recommended that I use a large whiskey barrel looking pot from Home Depot ($39) and plant all of my new herbs in that (try to look for the larger potted herbs instead of the small ones that they sell at Home Depot or Lowe’s).  I bought a big bag of Miracle Grow Potting Soil (my favorite) and began planting my herbs.  I think the best part about this pot is that I put it in our yard so it will get a good amount of sun, rain and be hit by our sprinkles.   So this time, if I forget to water it for a day; they may still have a chance of living!

I’ve enjoyed cutting my fresh herbs for recipes I’ve cooked all week long.  It makes such a difference and definitely makes me feel proud

How To De-tarnish All Your Silver

I have a horrible time keeping Silver polished.  Whether it is jewelry, serving pieces or sweet little baby cups.  I love this quick solution to de-tarnish a bunch of silver all at one time!

De-tarnish all your silver at once: Line your sink with aluminum foil, add 1/2 cup table salt, 1/2 cup baking soda, fill with hot water, then dump in all your silver! Let sit for about 30 min. The tarnish all transfers to the foil!  Now you’re ready for the party

So I’ve officially become obsessed with Podcasts.  I’ve been hearing about them for years, but never really took the time to understand them or listen to them.  About two or three months ago, I’ve had several friends mention a few different podcasts that sounded like something I might like.  Podcasts are typically 30-60 min audio shows that usually tell a story, share insight or maybe just talk about today’s world.  I think there are TONS of different ones out there, but I’ve only listened to ones with the above topics.  Many of the podcasts I have chosen, I was able to listen to the season in it’s entirety. Sometimes, episodes are released once a week and you have to wait a week to get the next episode if you are listening in real-time.

I typically listen to podcasts while I’m in the car, getting my nails done (I keep headphones in my purse), while I’m getting my hair done, eyelashes done, taking the kids for a stroller ride, etc.  The main reason I started podcast was because when I was getting my eyelashes done, I was having a hard time just lying there for two hours doing nothing.  I love being able to put my headphones in and listen to my podcast now.

Up and Vanished

This is the very FIRST podcast I listened to and I became HOOKED! I loved it.  This is the story of Tara Grinstead, a former beauty queen then school teacher, that was murdered over ten years ago in small town Georgia.  Payne Lindsey, the creator, re-opens this case (the largest case file in GA history) and begins doing his own investigation and interviewing of persons of interest.  He uncovers new evidence and keeps you on your toes as the podcasts are in real time.  I’m still listening to his updates each week

I Do Declare!

This is one that I just listen to from time to time and was also one of the first that I listened to.  I Do Declare is by two sisters who discuss current events each week.  I love that they discuss all things that interest me like fashion, recipes, Award Show recaps, Netflix, and other great podcasts out there.   It’s like a verbal weekly blog post.

This is a podcast that is a few years old that was very popular.  I listed to Up and Vanished first and then listened to Serial.  I realized that I love the murder investigations.  Serial follows the true story of a teenage girl that was murdered in Baltimore in 1999.  Six weeks after her murder, her ex-boyfriend was arrested.  He claims innocence, but has been put in jail ever since.  The podcast digs into this investigation and tries to learn if Adnan Syed (the ex-boyfriend) is really innocent.

Missing Richard Simmons

Who remembers fitness guru Richard Simmons???  Well, apparently he fell off the face of this earth in 2014 and people have been looking for him!  This short series of podcasts tries to understand and find reasoning behind Richard Simmons disappearance.  It was definitely an interesting story to learn more about Richard Simmons and the podcast was done very professionally.

S-Town

This is my most recent podcast that I’m currently still finishing up.  It is done by the same people that came out with Serial. This podcast digs into a possible murder investigation in a small town in Alabama.  I found this one to be a little slow to start, but then it captures you with a pretty crazy twist.  I will warn you that this one comes with a good bit of profanity.  I’m interested to see how it ends.
