Molly’s Nursery Reveal

I am super excited to share Molly’s nursery with you girls today. I honestly had planned not to make any changes with the nursery since it was Madelyn’s before, but I ended up changing a few things and I’m so happy with the way it turned out!!

We had added a twin bed to the room for Madelyn as she grew out of her crib. But we always knew when the baby came that we wanted to move Madelyn into Brody’s room and her room would become the nursery.

We changed out the rug in her room and I have really loved this new rug. It is a great price and soft enough for baby to lay and play on as she gets older. I was warned that it sheds a lot in the beginning which it does, but it gets a lot better after a few weeks.

This crib has made it through all of our babies and I still love it 5+ years later. Its pretty, well-priced and classic and I think it will always be in style. We purchased the matching twin bed and I have loved having this bed in the nursery. It was not something we had with our other babies and it makes it so convenient to nurse on and snuggle with baby. I also slept in that bed for the first few nights after we brought Molly home. It worked out great.

Last thing I’ll mention is the Keekaroo Changing Pad I bought for this baby. Since we already had the dresser in here and it’s pretty high, I wanted a rubber style changing pad that would stay secure on the top of the dresser. We have loved this one so far. It’s easy to wipe clean and a great size. I’m very happy with it!

House Tour Updated | The Pink Door Blog Hop

Welcome Friends!

Today I’m sharing an updated house tour. You may have peeked at photos of our home over on our house tour page which I’m pretty sure is the most viewed page on the blog. For those of you that are new around here or haven’t made it over to the house tour, I’m sharing a lot of those photos here today along with a few newer updates.

Bloggers are notorious for being nosy. We love to look into the lives of others and touring someone’s house seems to be one of the most popular. I know I love seeing pictures of pretty homes any chance I get.

Here’s the story of our house:

My husband and I started building this house at the end of 2012. We moved in January 2014. It was a labor of love and mostly a super fun project. My husband was the builder and I got to pick out the pretty things. My Mom has an eye for decorating and she helped me a ton along with the owner’s of a local furniture store here in town. I really enjoyed the process and hope to get an opportunity to do it again one day.

We have one room downstairs that started off as our home office. It stayed that way for the first 18 months or so when we lived in the house and then we quickly decided it would be the most functional as a playroom with a desk in it! House Tour | Office turned Play Room

I’m still in Miami, so I don’t have a weekend recap for you yet; but I’ve been meaning to share this post with you guys for awhile. I shared this room last year when it was considered Matt and I’s office! The room has evolved quite a bit since then, as we now have an over abundance of toys that needed a home!! I was tired of all the toys filling up our family room space, so I thought I could make this room a little more functional.

The room has now turned into an office/playroom combination. I’m almost shameful to share these pretty pictures with you guys that my friend, Tyler, took this past Fall; because the room actually looks pretty and not too cluttered. The truth is that since Christmas it’s a total mess!! I made sure to show you a “real life” photo below too so you know that this is not the way the room looks 99.9% of the time

This is the closet in the room. During my “nesting” phase while I was pregnant with Madelyn, I attacked this closet to try and organize and clean it out. It looks pretty good in the picture, but it’s already a mess again after the holidays. We keep all of our gift bags and wrapping paper supplies in here as well as lots of office supplies and arts and craft stuff.

House Tour | Brody’s Big Boy Room

We moved Brody to his big boy room at the end of August so I could have some time to turn his old nursery into Madelyn’s room. We actually started the transition with moving the crib into the new room even though he had already been climbing out of the crib for about a month. I thought it would make the transition smoother. And I think it did.

After a few weeks, he actually ended up breaking the crib springs and we moved the mattress to the floor. He slept on the cute little mattress like a champ for about 2 weeks and then I felt he was ready to sleep in a real bed with rails. I have to say, he has done an awesome job transition to his big boy room and big boy bed. The thing I was most worried about was losing his nap and thankfully, we still got it!!

His little room has been a work in progress and honestly has mostly come to us because of furniture my Mom was no longer using. She sold her house in New Orleans and had all this extra bedroom furniture that we were lucky enough to snag. The timing was perfect and twin beds couldn’t be cuter in a little kids room.

House Tour | Madelyn’s Nursery Reveal

I am FINALLY getting around to revealing Madelyn’s nursery!! I absolutely adore the way the room turned out and it is truly one of my favorite places to sit and enjoy. I actually find that we spend a ton of time in here thanks to the huge awesome rug I decided to put in the room this time. When this room was Brody’s nursery, we had a tiny rug in the room so it didn’t make it comfortable for playing on the floor. Now we play on the floor all the time!

This room seems so hard to photograph with the right lighting. Some of these photos I took and some were taken by my photographer friend, Tyler. I tried to link everything below, but I know I’m missing a bunch of things. If you have questions about something, just let me know!

I really designed the entire room around this Michelle Armos Painting which was my first purchase for her nursery. You can see that I tried to keep the room pretty similar to how it was set up when it was Brody’s nursery and just adding new colors and accents!

And since I’m nosy and always love looking in other people’s closets, here is a look at Madelyn’s. My heart is happy when it sees an organized closet! A friend of mine lent me a ton of her daughter’s clothes, so that’s how this thing is already jammed packed

How cute are these closet dividers??? Since I have such a wide range of sizes this time thanks to some awesome hand-me-downs, I really love having the dividers to stay organized!

House Tour | Our Home Office

Over the last year since we’ve moved into the house, I have gradually shared photos of the entire house with all of you. Every room except the office.

This has honestly been the toughest room in the entire house to get right. And it’s still not right, but I’m at least relatively satisfied with it for the moment. I think it’s mostly stemmed from this glass desk that I thought was going to be amazing, but I would have much preferred this white one I was originally looking at. I’m making the glass work, but one day I will probably find another place in the house for this one and change things up in this room.

The room is a bit tough to furnish because we lack wall space. There are lots of windows and doors in the room, so we don’t have a lot to work with. Regardless, we’re lucky to have this space; so here it is…

Carriage House Tour : Man Cave & Mom Cave Updates

I’ve had this post in my draft box forever and just kept forgetting to finish it up or more likely, I probably hoped to get a few better photos to add to it; but I never did. So, I decided to add a few things to it and go ahead and show you another portion of our house. Today is a look into our “Carriage House” which is better named the “MAN CAVE.”

It’s hard to visualize this portion of our house, but you can see photos here in our house tour or I’ve tried to help you by providing the blue lines below. This house is detached from our main house and is also our garage. We have a two car garage with a guest bedroom and bath on the first floor and then upstairs is one big room with a kitchenette and half bath…hence the man cave.

This is our guest bedroom or “In-Law” suite as some may call it because it is detached from the main house and technically has it’s own bathroom and kitchen.

I love this bathroom with the spa-like rock floor. We wished we had done these in our Master Bath.

Once you head upstairs, you enter into the Man Cave:

Oh yes, how could it be a man-cave without deer heads and huge flat screen TV’s??

Oh, and don’t forget the ridiculous row of 5 mancliners!!!!

And since husband has this glorious man cave, I like to call my closet (which I do share with him) my “Mom Cave.”

I did a post a few months ago giving you a little Master Closet Tour. I was pretty happy with the way it was looking then, but still had some things to change around and organize. Elise (Cheers Ya’ll) posted a closet tour yesterday and it reminded me that it was time to start working in my closet again plus her’s looked adorable!

I just stuck a few command hooks on the wall and now my baubles are a little easier for me to reach and see. I love the little change and hopefully it will make me wear all my necklaces a little better!!

Sorry for the terrible photos but there is no natural lighting in our closet so it makes for bad lighting.

So I’m finally getting all my photos together of the house to give you guys the rest of the “house tour.” Today I’m sharing photos of our second floor. Upstairs, we have 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and our laundry room. A guest room, Brody’s nursery and our Master bedroom. A jack and jill bathroom connects the guest bedroom and Brody’s nursery. House Tour: Brody’s Nursery

It has been so much fun putting Brody’s nursery together. I have dreamed about it for so long and posted inspiration photos a year ago here and put a design board together here. Things changed a bit since I wrote those posts. I found these wooden letters below at a local home store and ended up focusing the room around them. Brody spent the first 6 months of his life in this nursery as we lived in my Mother’s house while ours was under construction.

I love the way the room turned out and hope you do too!
