Fourth Quarter Book Review 2017

This is a post that was supposed to be published months ago, but I never got around to it. I thought I would still go ahead and share since summer is always a popular time to pick up a few books.  I have read some good books in 2018 so far too that I will share with you guys towards the end of this month!

I got on a reading kick in 2017 and really have enjoyed it.  I read some books on my Kindle and then a lot through Audible.com while I’m on the go.  I became obsessed with the Elin Hilderbrand Winter Series this past Fall when she released her 4th and final book of the series!  I can’t recommend these enough and do recommend you read them around the holidays in Oct through December!

4th Quarter Book Review

Class Mom by Laurie Gelman

I listened to this book through audible and enjoyed the slapstick comedy of being a “class Mom.”  The book follows, Jen, the class Mom as she try to throw some humor in the position of Class Mom.  Not everyone in the class appreciates her humor.   You will get a few good laughs and can probably totally relate if you have a kid in Elementary school.  I’d say this was so-so.

The Marriage Lie by Kimberly Belle

This is was an awesome suspense novel.  Iris and Will seem to be a perfectly married couple of 7 years when her husband takes off for a business trip and never comes home.  When Iris hears of a plane crash, but to a totally different place than her husband was supposed to be, she starts feeling her whole world crashing down.  She was told her husband was on board the plane to Seattle that crashed and she was determined to figure out what else her husband had been hiding.  I would highly recommend this one.

Winter (4 Book) Series by Elin Hilderbrand

ahhh I just love this whole series!!   A Father of four owns the Winter Street Inn in Nantucket and always looks forward to the holidays to have his entire family all together.  He has four grown kids that are all doing different things with their lives.  You will love this family to pieces and can’t wait to hear what will happen next with the family drama.  Elin adds in ex-wives, mistresses, deployment and all kinds of good things to stir the pot!  I would highly recommend this entire series and be sure to read it in the winter!

Sisters First by Jenna Bush Hager

No matter what your political views are, I think you can find charm in this novel.  I love hearing Jenna and her sister recap their family history and childhood.  It truly amazed me at how much they could remember and dig up from their past.  I think it would be especially fun to listen to again since Barbara Busch has passed.  I enjoyed listening to this story and I think you can learn a few things from the girls as they share some of their side as opposed to the media side.

Started in 2017 and never finished:

I don’t know what happened to me with these books because I know so many of you loved both of these, but I could just never finish them.  I don’t know if they were too long for me or too serious, but I stopped about midway through both.  Maybe I will go back to them???

Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan

I read the Nightingale a few months ago after 7264927 people recommended it and it was good, but not the best book I’ve ever read like everyone said it would be. Saving this post for future reads!

I love all of Elin Hilderband books! I still haven’t read the 4th one in the Winter series yet so maybe I’ll pick it up this summer. I was to read the Bush sisters book too, I’ve heard really good things about and I just love Jenna on the Today’s show. I tried to read the Nightingale but couldn’t get into it either. Maybe I will try again this year.
