Meet Emily of Beauty and the Greek {Blogger Interview}

Today I’m introducing Emily of Beauty and the Greek.  She is absolutely adorable with an equally adorable Greek husband who has just built a new home in Illinois and left her job and family in Indy.   She’s a former ballerina that recently picked up running as a hobby and just completed her first marathon!! Go girl.  She’s traveled the world and is now settling into her gorgeous new home with her husband and pit bull.

1. Occupation & Location
I was working as an ER nurse in Indy, but I’m currently waiting on my Illinois nursing license.  I’m ready to get back to work!
2. What made you decide to start blogging?
My husband and I had just announced that we were moving to Illinois from Indiana.  I wanted to create a place where my Indy friends and family could see what I was up to.  So far, some family members read, but most are people I’ve never met.  I never expected to make such good friends through the blogging community.
3.  Do you remember the first blog you read?

I, along with many others, started reading Mama Laughlin.  Her weight loss and running was very inspiring.  You couldn’t help but be drawn in by her honesty and candid writing style.
4.  What do you love to blog about most?
I think it all depends on what I’m spending my days doing.  Last year, I was really into running.  This year, we’re getting settled in a new house.  I mostly blog about whatever is big in my life during that particular moment.
5.  Where is your favorite place to vacation?
We got engaged this day
I LOVE Hawaii.  I like that you’re still in the United States, so you’re safe and your cell phone works.  THe beaches are gorgeous, and the hiking is incredible.  My FAVORITE though, has to be Greece.  The food and the beaches take the cake.  Having a husband who speaks the language also helps.
6.  Three favorite stores to shop for clothes?
C. Wonder, Target, and Banana Republic
7.   Three things you can’t live without?

My cell phone, Smith’s Rosebud salve, and Diet Coke
8.  Favorite room in your home.
Our master bedroom.  I love how one wall is all windows.  When the light comes in, it’s gorgeous.
9.  Three favorite stores to shop for home decor?
Pottery Barn for your big items like couches, Gordman’s for small home accents like candlesticks and picture frames, and Target for mostly everything else.  I’m a total bargain shopper.
10.  What does a typical day look like for you?
Right now, I’m living a pretty sweet life because I don’t have a job.  I wake up anywhere from 7:00-8:30.  Make coffee, eat breakfast, blog, and answer emails.  Then, I usually go for a run.  The afternoon consists of running errands and grocery shopping.  I try to start on dinner at 6:00, so it’s already in the works when George gets home.  After that, we eat, get ready for tomorrow (pack lunch, iron shirt, etc.), then we watch one of our shows.  Right now, I’m on a total Girls kick.  George watches it while answering emails or working.  Then, bed time.
