Today I’m talking baby shoes on the blog and for those of you that don’t have babies yet, don’t fret. You will be the favorite person at the baby shower or the best Auntie in the world for giving a pair of these as a gift.
Honestly, I can’t even remember where I first saw these adorable moccasins when I was pregnant with Brody. Somewhere in blogland I’m sure, probably on Jessica’s blog, but I really can’t remember. All I know is that I am so happy that I learned about them and I have to share this amazing discovery with all of you (I’m sure most of you have already heard of them though)!!!
I purchased our first pair of Freshly Picked Moccasins in a size 2 (see sizing here). I felt that I wouldn’t be putting Brody in shoes for the first few months anyway and by the time I was ready to put him in shoes, it would be Fall and orange would be the perfect color for football season (I’m a Florida Gator) and Halloween and Thanksgiving!! I was so lucky that the shoes fit perfectly through all those holidays! They looked adorable with all of his outfits and I was smitten. The shoes were soft, he didn’t mind me putting them on him (they have elastic around the ankles so they stretch) and they STAYED ON HIS FEET. That’s the most amazing part of all.

So the addiction started with just one pair of orange moccasins and then it just grew and grew. As he got older, he looked more and more appropriate in shoes and I was wanting a pair to go with every outfit!! I caught Freshly Picked’s half yearly sale last year and stocked up on a pair of weathered brown and blue suede (old, similar) in a size 3 for him to wear for the winter months!
The weathered brown have been really awesome because they go with everything!! Even once Brody started crawling, these suckers still didn’t come off. I was amazed at how well they stayed on his little feet. Any shoes that had a harder sole (we tried Toms as well as some others), they would really irritate him. The soft soles seemed to really do the trick!
So bring on Spring and my Mom had fallen in love with them as much as we had, so she purchased a pair of white ones for him! Oh how I couldn’t wait until he could fit in his white ones. We purchased those in a size 4 and he was able to start wearing them around 9 months old. They are the cutest things ever!! One of my friends asked me how I keep them clean, but we really haven’t had a problem with it yet. I’ve thought about spraying some scotch guard on them which I still may do. My favorite thing right now is that it’s June and he fits into all his size 3 and size 4 moccasins still. It’s fun to buy them a little bit on the larger size so that they can wear them for awhile!
Freshly Picked has been kind enough to send Brody one of their newest colors, Glacier (size 4). The color is KILLER! They go with all of his outfits and I just adore the color.
