Our Week in Rosemary Beach | March 2020

Before life was completely flipped upside down and we didn’t know school was going to be cancelled for the entire rest of the school year, we spent a pretty lovely week in Rosemary Beach.  Normally, it would be an ABSOLUTELY lovely week in Rosemary; but since COVID-19 was on the radar for the USA, it was a bit more complicated.

We had plans to spend our Spring Break at the beginning of March in Vail, CO skiing with family; but as COVID became more of a threat, we cancelled plans to travel that far.  I quickly re-routed our game plan and we ended up renting the Vintage Cottage in Rosemary for the week.  There were parts of this house that I am completely in love with and would definitely consider renting again.  We don’t typically rent a house this big when it is just my family of five; but since it was last minute, we were just lucky enough that someone cancelled and we were able to jump on a house since we were so last minute. We did have our friends come join us for a couple of nights which was super fun and we were able to enjoy the first few days of our trip without too much trouble.  We also did not bring Molly (18 months old) with us.  We had already arranged for her to stay at home while we were supposed to be skiing in Vail, so we decided to just keep our plans and leave her at home when we switched to Rosemary.  We contemplated it so much and really felt so bad not bringing her to the beach, but can I say it was actually SO NICE just having the big kids!  It was like a little vacation all in itself.

About mid-week is when things got a little more scary and strict with all things COVID.  Social distancing was important and restaurants were able to still be open, but had to restrict the number of tables.  It changed the second half of our trip a bit, but we were still happy to be socially distancing in our cute little house with a pool for a few more days before we were going to be locked up at home for the foreseeable future.

So here’s a look at our week through pictures because it is certainly still a week I want to remember…

The house was great! It had four bedrooms, two of which were bunk rooms.  The other two rooms were King size beds with their own bath rooms.  It had an open living/dining/family room concept and a small dip pool with bbq grill, fire pit and dining area. The kids had a ball in the small dip pool.  That was a life saver and I wished I could have packed it up and took it home with us for quarantine.

We biked, we beached, we swam, we ate, we hit up the kids favorite Sugar Shack and we had just good family fun.

Had soooo much fun getting to see Natasha from Hello Happiness!

This was definitely a trip to remember as it started a very crazy time in our lives with a global pandemic.  This trip feels like it was 42054 years ago as I write this since we have been home and out of school for like 6 weeks now!
