Wow, it’s been a long time since we’ve done a Thoughts for Thursday. Sorry we all just kind of stopped. But it was actually nice to take a little break. I just miss these posts because they were always my brain dump posts where I could just talk about anything on my mind and it felt like I was just casually talking to you guys over wine or coffee. So let’s do that again today. I thought I would talk about life with 3 kids now that we are almost 7 weeks into having baby Molly into our lives.

When I started thinking about this post, I wanted to reflect on a few older posts that I have written since becoming a Mama. One of them is a post called The 5 Hardest Things to Handle Going from One Child to Two (or more). Everything I wrote in this post still rings true now that I have 3 kids. I often get asked how the transition is from child to child, so hopefully that helps to read.

When people have asked me so far, “does three seem easier?”, my quick answer is yes. The easier part is that Brody (5) and Madelyn (3) have each other to play with and entertain. Trust me, it also comes with its share of arguments and quite a few more “I need this” demands; but it also frees me up when I need to be feeding the baby, washing bottles, pumping, etc. When it was just two kids, the older sibling had to figure out how to entertain himself. In my case, Brody had just turned two and even though he could play independent, he needed me a lot too.

I shared a typical day for us with two kids when Madelyn was just about one month old. You can read it here. Things were going fairly smoothly, but getting out the door with two kids was definitely a game changer. Then, you can read a post from me when Madelyn was about 6 months old that I called Coffee Talk Confessions and you can see I was in the trenches. I remember being at my lowest Mama moment during this time. I was worn pretty thin (we had a lot of travel and Brody had his febrile seizure) and I needed help. I share this because I think it’s important to see that each phase in Motherhood is a little different and it all has it’s own challenges…some easier than others.

The good news is that after that, I got smarter.

When we decided to go for three kids, I knew I wasn’t going to be afraid to ask for help. I knew I would need it! I would be a better wife, mother, friend, sister and daughter with it. I knew that this help would only be temporary. It would cost more money for a few months or years, but it was short-term in the big scheme of life. I wrote this post, 5 Tips for Being a Happier Mama, back when I had two kids and it is all so true. I hired a babysitter when I was in the trenches that I mentioned above and she was only with us for 5 months to help me two mornings a week with the baby, but it made all the difference for me. I got to became “me” again and it was so important.

So with three kids, here’s what I decided I really needed for help. I needed someone that could come to my house 3 mornings a week at 730am. Matt usually is out the door for work around 730 or 745, so I needed another set of hands. I found someone amazing and she has made my transition into having 3 kids so much more lovely and enjoyable! She comes in, helps pack lunches, get breakfast started, put shoes on the kids or whatever is needed to get out the door for school. Once we are ready for school around 8:45am, I drive the two big kids to school (they go from 9am-1pm) and she stays with the baby at home. I then have a few hours to myself (I’m usually in and out of the house a few times) to go work out, grocery shop, run errands, blog or anything else that is needed before I go pick the kids back up from school. She is usually at the house for about the next hour or so that we are home while the kids grab a snack and I get Madelyn down for a nap and Brody settled into quiet time. It makes the crazy hustle and bustle so much smoother. And then it makes my other days at home with the baby all about her :).

I tell you girls this because I have had several of you say that I have made 3 kids look so easy. What a lovely compliment, but please know I have so much wonderful help and I’m never afraid to admit it. Beyond our new babysitter, I also have the most amazing Grandmothers ever that live 5 minutes and 25 minutes away from us. They are the most incredible helpers and are constantly doing things for our kids. So having three kids is no walk in the park, but it sure has been made easier by having a few extra set of hands around when I really need it.

Social media is a tricky thing. I love to try and keep it real with you guys (especially on instastories), but my photos are more “filtered.” I love to share my kids in the sweetest clothes or our favorite holiday decor or my new dress that I think you should buy. But behind all that is your normal 3 year old tantrums, messy house or crying baby. Please know that! And I will try to share more of that if ya’ll would like!

Molly is 7 weeks old and has truly been our easiest baby yet. She sleeps a ton and really only cries when she’s hungry. She has been an amazing sleeper and started sleeping through the night at one month old. I swear. She’s been a dream. But guess what?? She’s starting to be awake more now. Just this week, she started with the infamous witching hour that comes around 5:30 or 6pm and hangs around until it’s bedtime. That’s when they just want to be held and can’t quite be comfortable hanging out in the swing or a baby lounger. It’s when you are trying to cook dinner, feed the big kids, eat your dinner and your baby just wants to be held. I remember it all too well with my other kids. So things are probably going to get a little crazy around here as Molly gets older and is no longer just the sleepy newborn that just hangs out and chills. And you know what?? That’s cool. We will roll with the punches and embrace this season of life.

As I said, each season comes with it’s own set of challenges and please know I have plenty of my own. But I couldn’t be happier with my decision to ask for help this time around. It’s not forever. It’s only temporary. But I feel like a better person because of it :).

So there you have it. I hope I made sense and didn’t ramble too much. This post got awfully long, but I wanted you guys to know that I don’t do this all on my own! Thank ya’ll for all your sweet messages and I love hearing from so many of you through instagram messages. It makes it so fun to be able to talk back and forth! So please don’t ever be afraid to comment or ask questions!

And for anyone that is new around here, these older Ask Annie Q&A posts are fun to read back on and learn a little more about our family.

Good Morning, friends! I am pulling this post from way back in my draft box before I was pregnant with baby number three. I had started this little Q&A series last Fall and you guys really seemed to enjoy it. I typically would get on Instastories and ask you to submit any questions that you had for me and I would round them up for a blog post. You can click to read Part I and Part II if you missed them. I’m sorry for those of you that submitted these questions because you asked them so long ago, but hopefully they are still relevant.

What are your favorite kids stores to shop?

The Beaufort Bonnet Company, Little English, Born Children’s Boutique, Shop Bagsy, Feltman Brothers (especially for newborn), Elizabeth Layne Heirloom, Brother and Sissies Children’s Boutique, Smocked Auctions, Vineyard Vines

What are your thoughts on parenting a boy and a girl? Are there any differences when parenting them?

This was a great thought-provoking question. At the end of the day, boys and girls are just different. Even though I feel like I parent mine the same, I’m sure there are natural differences. Right now with Brody, he’s in Pre-K4 and I’m dealing with potty talk and sports where as Madelyn is two and all about baby dolls but also a bit whiney. We definitely believe in discipline in my house and try to treat each equally, but it can be hard. If I’m being honest, Madelyn probably gets away with more right now. Maybe because she’s a girl or maybe because she is just younger. I think the best lesson you can teach your kids is that life is not fair. We do the best we can, but we’d be miserable if we tried to make it perfect and I don’t believe we would be doing our children any favors.

How do you ensure that your siblings stay close? Are you close with your two brothers as adults?

This is the million dollar question to me because I think family is EVERYTHING! It means so much to me to keep my family close and I think that is important to instill in our children at a young age! I’m very affectionate with my kids and think its so important to not only tell them you love them but show them with lots of hugs, kisses and snuggles. In turn, my kids are also very affectionate with each other and I love watching them. They love to play together and I make sure that I let them. When we are home, I love to watch just the two of them have creative play time together without me involved. My brothers and I are all still very close and I think that is a testament to my parents. They always instilled the importance of family in us and made sure we always had quality family time through all of our years including adulthood. I feel very lucky for that and hope to continue that with my kids.

This is so nosy, but I want to know about the private plane ya’ll fly on!

That was the actual question. I promise I wasn’t calling her nosy. So my Dad started a building company 27 years ago that is now run by my brother. Occasionally when the company plane is traveling somewhere desirable and has enough space, we get to hop aboard and enjoy a ride

Would you mind answering some questions about your eyelash extensions??

No, of course not! I have become a bit of an addict that can’t seem to quit!

Have you tried any of the serums like lash boost, if so how does it compare to actual fake eyelashes??

I used Neulash for a little bit, but I was never diligent about putting it on every night. People rave about it, but it does not give you the same result as actual fake eyelashes! I have seen it improve peoples lash tremendously though. Those serums are not advised during pregnancy or breastfeeding where as I can have my eyelash extensions during pregnancy.

How long does it take to fill them and how often do you go?

This is the real commitment. The fills are every 3-4 weeks and take about 1.5 hours. I have friends that go to different places and their fills are faster–maybe an hour. My girl’s claim to fame is being OCD and she makes sure there is an extension on every.single.lash, so it takes a bit longer. The time commitment is definitely what made me quit lashes the first time; but when I got them on the second time, I changed my attitude. I allow it to be my relaxation time and I put my headphones in and listen to my audiobooks. I now really enjoy the time and it allows me to chill.

Can you still use mascara?

Not on your eyelash extensions. You can put some mascara on your bottom lashes if you want, but I don’t.

How much do you have to baby them? Especially when you are working out, showering, or at beach and pool?

I really don’t feel like I do much to them. I think I have formed a habit of not rubbing my eyes much anymore, but otherwise I go about my day. We are at the beach and in the pool all the time in the summer and they do great. Some will fall out over time, but that is why you get fills!

For those of you that are local and interested, I go to Miracle Star for my extensions and she’s seriously amazing at what she does. This is not sponsored at all, just sharing my experience. Here is a look at my eyelashes with and without extensions. Pretty impressive!

That’s it for today!! Hope you enjoyed. Don’t forget if you missed passed Q&A’s you can read them here.

So today I’m sharing a few new things that I purchased yesterday. Have you guys heard of the brand SheIn? I have been seeing it around for a little while now and honestly been avoiding it on purpose. In the past, I always found that brands that were quite inexpensive just never fit me well. Think Forever 21, Lulu’s, and a lot of time ASOS or Topshop. I always felt like the sizing ran small, everything was too short or too tight and it just made me frustrated. It felt like it was made for really skinny teenagers. Anybody else agree with me? Well, I decided to give this Shein brand a try for myself and I ordered these NINE pieces yesterday. Yall, my total bill was $128! Shipping was free and they supposedly have a 60 day free return policy (I’ll keep you posted on this). This post is not sponsored at all. I just started seeing the cutest clothes from them and decided I wanted to try it for myself. Here’s what I got:

Turn on your JavaScript to view content

So the verdict is out on whether I like it or not or if any of it fits, but one of the nice things on the website is that there is a lot of feedback from customers. They do a pretty good job of letting you know how the items run in sizing and also sharing photos via social media of them in the dresses. I did find that helpful. I’m anxious to see what I think of these pieces on and would be thrilled if a few of them worked!! I remember watching this video of Kate from Lonestar Southern a few months back reviewing her purchases from Shein and be quite happy with them!

So please share with me, have you purchased anything from Shein? I would love to hear what you thought of it!

Now it’s your turn. Share your Thursday thoughts!

I LOVE filling the Easter Basket. It’s my first opportunity or excuse to give gifts to the kids post Christmas. I always like to round up some of my favorites because there are lots of cute bunnies and eggs out there surprisingly. My baskets for the kids usually consist of one Easter book, one stuffed animal (we love these Jellycat Bunnies), one toy egg item, and then usually a beach or sand toy. Easter weekend usually kicks off the warm weather for us here in Florida and so its fun to add those. Here’s a few of my favorites:

Crayola Bath Drops // Easter Egg Stampers //Llama Llama Easter egg // TBBC Knit Doll {50% off} // Hatch ‘Em Eggs // Hide and Squeak Eggs // Melissa & Doug Sand Cupcake Set // Monogrammed Jelly Cat Doll {20% Off with code BRODY20}// When I am Big Jelly // Swim Ways Fish Styx // Hanna Anderson Easter Jammies // Eco Eggs Coloring Kit

Crayola Bath Drops – The kids love a colored bath! They little drops are fun and easy to turn your water pink, yellow, blue or green. Cheap fun

Easter Egg Stampers– I plan to give Brody these this year. He’s into his arts and crafts lately and these are festive and cute.

Hide and Squeak Eggs – The kids got these last year and they are still obsessed. Im not sure what it is about them, but they squeak and they love put them in and out of the carton. It also helps them learn shapes and colors.

Hatch ‘Em Eggs – These look cute. Throw the egg into some water and over the next 48 hours you will have a new animal

Llama Llama Easter egg – There are so many cute Easter books out there. It honestly seems like we have 100 of them already and I may have to recycle some of our old ones into their baskets this year.

TBBC Knit Doll – These little knit dolls are so cute and very similar to the Blabla Dolls. This little lamb is so sweet.

Eco Eggs Coloring Kit – I’ve actually not dyed eggs with the kids yet because it just seemed like a huge mess in the making, but I think Brody is old enough this year to enjoy.

Monogrammed Jelly Cat Doll – We love our Jelly Cat Bunnies so much. They are the softest and make the best lovies for the kids. Madelyn and Brody both have one. They have 3 different sizes, but we love the large. You can get 20% off your monogrammed bunny with code BRODY20. Order before March 31st, to guarantee Easter Delivery.

When I am Big Jelly – We are also JellyCat book obsessed over here. It was the first books I could get Madelyn interested in because she loves to feel the pages. They are short and sweet and make great bedtime books.

Swim Ways Fish Styx – They have these swim toys at our community pool and the kids always play with them the entire time. I’d love to have a set at the house to play in the backyard pop up pool with them. They are rubber and bendable.

Hanna Anderson Easter Jammies – We are HUGE Jammie fans around here and Hanna Anderson will forever be a favorite. They are the softest cotton and last forever. They always have fun Holiday patterns too.

Melissa & Doug Sand Cupcake Set – As I mentioned above, I love to put some new beach toys are swim toys in their baskets because by Easter, it tends to be warm enough for us to be outside a lot. The cupcake set looks like it could entertain the kids for hours.

Brody in Colorado with his favorite Jelly Cat Bunny in Woodlands

Welcome to Thoughts for Thursday with Natalie and I. Share anything and join along in the fun! Mine today will be a bit short and a little random. Random is good though. Feel free to be random

+ Brody: He’s 3 years and 4 months old now. I feel like I need to document a few things lately since I’m not good at writing these down anymore. He’s in school 3 days a week for four hours and I feel like he is a little sponge this year. It’s been such a treat to watch him get so excited for school everyday and when I pick him up, I try to get there a few minutes early, and they are all sitting together singing and learning new songs. He loves music.

He comes home and starts singing these new songs that we’ve never sang with him. Lately, it’s been The Lord is Good to Me, God is Great blessing and the pledge of allegiance. He had us all speechless this week when he just put his hand on his heart out of no where and said the entire pledge of allegiance. The way they pronounce the words at this age just make your little heart melt.

At home, Daddy has a special little bedtime ritual with him and he has fallen in love with Journey. He knows about 5 Journey songs now pretty well. Normally, he won’t let me video tape him singing; but last weekend, he had the guitar and a good audince and he went to town. Check out this mini-rockstar below!

+ Brody has been scheduled to get tubes in his ears since the end of July. His surgery was scheduled for the beginning of September, but he ended up with a pretty bad cough and chest congestion, so we didn’t like the idea of having him go under any anesthesia for the surgery and rescheduled it. Now it is scheduled for next. And today I took him into our pediatrician because he was complaining of his ears hurting and he has a double ear infection!! Ugh!! It seemed like they completely came out of nowhere. Mom’s with kiddos that have had ear problems, you feel my pain!!

+ On the bright side, his Buzz Lightyear arrived in the mail today and he was super stoked about it!! It was the only thing that made him smile after he woke up from his nap! He looked so cute in it. He’s missing an essential piece to his costume that hasn’t arrived yet, so he’ll be ready to fly come Halloween!!

I have a few random thoughts for you this Thursday! You can share anything. Just link up with Natalie and I below and hop around to a few new blogs to say hi!

+ I mentioned on Instagram that I didn’t have my phone for almost three days. I left it at a restaurant in Biloxi when we were there on Saturday and they were closed Sunday, so I had to head back to Pensacola without it. Thankfully, we had someone that could pick it up for me and overnight it so I would receive it on Tuesday. I could literally write an entire post discussing how bad the addiction to the cell phone really is. I look at it first thing in the morning, have it sitting out of my purse in the car, bring it up and down the stairs with me when I’m at home, etc, etc. It felt SO nice not to worry about the thing for 3 days. When I got it back, I took off ALL notifications. I don’t want to see any of them. I still love social media, don’t get me wrong, but I’m going to try to be better about mindlessly scrolling instagram.

+ I tried Orangetheory for the first time this week because one actually opened in Pensacola! It was amazing and I would say that I’m completely obsessed with it if I didn’t have knee troubles. The treadmills were really amazing though and had extra cushion for sure, which made jogging feel better and hard to resist. I’ve mentioned before, but I really shouldn’t be running with my knee. Thankfully they do have alternative options, so you don’t have to run if you can’t. I’m hoping to continue doing it, but keep a light jog depending on how my knee holds up. Have any of you tried it?

+ Matt and I rented The Infiltrator last night. It is based on a true story about Pablo Escabar. Have any of you been watching Narcos, the Netflix series?? We still have to finish the second season. Anyway, this movie was intense. It’s a little more gory then I typically like to watch, but it keeps you on your toes. Matt and I both agreed the intensity kind of reminded us of the movie Man on Fire. We were both pretty wired after the movie was over! If you like Narcos, I would recommend this one to you.

Matt and I went to Biloxi, MS this week for one night. Matt works over there sometimes and I decided to join him this week to visit my old co-workers and my old boss that is a very dear friend of mine. My old boss has been fighting cancer for the last 3.5 years. It’s been a long battle, but one that she attacked with a smile each and every day. I was hoping to be traveling to Biloxi just to get a visit in with her; but instead, it was a goodbye. It brought me to tears to see her and to realize we were letting her go. She passed just 3 hours after I left her on Wednesday afternoon. It feels surreal.

Remember to always reach out. Send that text you’ve been meaning to send to check up on an old friend or pick up the phone and call. I wish so badly that I had picked up my phone to check on her over the last 4 months or made the effort to visit. I wish I had one last good conversation with her before I had to say goodbye. I hate having regret. Life is short. Hug the ones you love just a little tighter today.

Despite the sad ending to our trip, it was nice for Matt and I to escape for the night. We were able to catch up over lunch, dinner, gambling at the casino and then a breakfast the next morning with just the two of us. We were able to have deep and real conversations about life without being interrupted by children and it felt really good. Sometimes you have to get away to accomplish that.

Welcome to Thoughts for Thursday. Natalie and I are glad to have you. Please feel free to share anything you would like and grab a button below to link up.

+ I spent the entire day yesterday attempting to “film” a day in the life post. So many people love to read those and it was by far the most requested from the survey last week. I’ve done quite a few in the past {read them here} and I thought it would be fun to change it up a bit!

+ The trick with the video is that I don’t have a damn clue how to edit all my footage now. I feel like it’s going to take me forever to get it done. I’ve just recently started enjoying watching a few “vlogs,” so hopefully I will pick up a few tips from them. If anyone else has a good youtube tutorial or any suggestions, please send them my way!!

+ I’ve really been wanting to learn how to use iMovie though because I think it will be the perfect solution to combing all my videos of the kids to form some family videos to look back on one day.

+ I completed my Fall decorating yesterday (for the most part) and I feel pretty relieved to have it done. I’ll be sure to share some pictures next week! I also shared that I was trying not to drink any alcohol this week and I totally made it one day!! I’m the worst!

+ There are several Friends + Family sales going on this week. Bloomingdales and Saks go through this weekend. I really don’t need a thing, but I’ve been wanting these shoes forever and may make the plunge this weekend. They are so cute and comfortable. I just can’t decide between the black or the grey.

+ I’m going to share two quick outfit of the days with you ladies. Several of you have commented to me lately how pretty some of my instagram photos have been. I took the kids to the park last week and was greeted by the nicest college student who is taking a photography class. She wanted to take some photos of the kids playing for her class and then we got to talking. She was so kind to come over and take some OOTD photos for me. She did an awesome job and I’m dying to pick her brain on how to shoot in manual. So she is the reason for the pretty outfit photos!!

Both of these dresses come at a great price, have pockets and are super comfortable. I love the colors that I picked for each, but they are also available in several different colors. They made a wonderful transitional dress for us Southerners because they look with booties and layer easily. And plaid scarves…oh I won’t even go into how much I love them.

I was thinking about this post all of last week because I was in a total funk. I honestly felt completely alone in my thoughts at the time even though I know I wasn’t. I know lots of mothers and wives can start to feel this way at times. I was just worn out.

I was sick and felt very low energy. My kids needed me and so did my husband. Matt had surgery on his elbow last Monday morning and neither of us really knew how intense it was going to end up being. He has to wear a soft cast on his right arm for two weeks all day, everyday. I wanted to be the loving, happy wife and nurse that put a smile on my face when I helped him with his every need. He can’t use his right arm. He needed help with the pill bottle, the shower, every meal, buttoning his pants, putting on a shirt, he could barely get out of bed…you get the point. I was not that gracious wife. I had an attitude. I was tired. My kids wore me down and now my husband needed all my help too. I felt terrible for feeling this way, but I couldn’t snap out of it.

I was short tempered with the kids and with my husband and I just wanted “me time.” I needed to recoup because I was drained; but everyone else needed Mom and I had no choice but to power through. It was tough and I kept throwing my own little pity party. It seemed like every time I turned around, someone was needing this or wanting that and I wanted to run!!!

Thankfully I didn’t

But it’s true that we can fall into these roles of being so needed that we can begin to resent it. Resent is a harsh word, but you catch my drift. My Mom title just needed a break. I was sick (and tired) too, but no one was there to help me. These are the sacrifices we make everyday. I wouldn’t change being a Mom for anything on the planet and I love my husband to death. Him being out of commission just magnified the amount of help that he is on a regular basis because me having to pick up his slack (plus a little extra for him) really drained me. He was so grateful for my help (since he was helpless) and I feel terrible that I did it with such a shitty attitude.

I know that there are families out there that deal with many worse situations than ours the last couple of weeks, but I still wanted to share. I want you to know that it’s not always “picture perfect.” We all have good days and bad days and if you are feeling drained or tired of being bossed around by a threenager, know that you are not alone!

We all make it through and thank God I rolled into this week with a smile on my face and a much more pleasant attitude. I’m back to feeling like myself again and have had a great week

Ill leave you with some great e-cards and please let me know that I’m not alone….

Hey Friends,

I’m a little behind today but wanted to make sure the link-up was up and running.

Until I get a few minutes to get my post up, here’s a link to the professional pictures from Madelyn’s first birthday party that you can take a look at:

Madelyn’s 1st Birthday

I’m back! Here’s a few random thoughts from our week so far.

+ I just finished up Truly Madly Guilty by Loraine Morairty. I think it’s been a pretty popular book because people like her as an author. I gave this book 3 out of 5 stars on Good Reads (friend me) because I felt like it took half of the book to really get good. I thought the first half was so slow and then it finally got better. It wasn’t my favorite, but was relatable at times.

+ I feel like we have all been a bit under the weather this week. Matt had elbow surgery on Monday morning and he has pretty much been out of commission. That means that Mama has to pick up all the slack plus play nurse and cook to hubby. Add on not feeling well and it make for a pretty long week! Both of the kids are healthy, but Madelyn has had a serious runny nose all week. We also all got our flu shots! Those babies sting!!!

+ Today starts the Tory Burch Fall Sale. I can’t say enough wonderful things about her boots. I own about 4 pairs and I love them all so much. Miller sandals and Carolina flats (newer version) are also my go-tos. This year, you get 30% off your entire purchase if you spend more than $250. That’s pretty awesome. I wear this tote every single day. It works great as a diaper bag for kids because it wipes down really easy but it’s cute and doesn’t look like a diaper bag. There’s a few other purses that I would love to pick up and I’m always wanting another pair of Miller sandals. Use code FALL16 for discount. Here’s a few of my favorites:

!function(d,s,id){var e, p = /^http:/.test(d.location) ? ‘http’ : ‘https’;if(!d.getElementById(id)) {e = d.createElement(s);e.id = id;e.src = p + ‘://’ + ‘widgets.rewardstyle.com’ + ‘/js/lookbook.js’;d.body.appendChild(e);}if(typeof(window.__lookbook) === ‘object’) if(d.readyState === ‘complete’) {window.__lookbook.init();}}(document, ‘script’, ‘lookbook-script’);

+ Tonight I am headed to a girls night for a Cabi Clothing party. Has anyone ever heard of Cabi before? I hadn’t until a friend of mine started selling it, but they have some really cute stuff.
