Ham & Swiss Poppy Sliders

In honor of Super Bowl week (I totally forgot to post this during super bowl week! So better late then never), I thought I would share these delicious sliders!! There are so many variations of this recipe and it never matters how I make it, it always turns out delicious!   My SIL would make these this summer and wrap them in tin foil and bring them out on the boat, we would set them out so they got warmed back up by the sun, and everyone went crazy over them!  They are great because you can make them ahead of time and pop them in the oven when you are ready to eat!!

This last batch that I made, I actually used ham and turkey because we had both and it was so good.  I have almost made these with just turkey and that may be my favorite way to do it!   But the ham is great too and the most popular way to make them.

Ham & Swiss Poppy Sliders

Ingredients

  • 2 Tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 12 slices deli ham (or leftover ham)
  • 6 slices swiss cheese (cut in half)
  • 1/4 cup butter (melted)
  • 1/2 Tablespoon dijon mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (I always add a little extra too)
  • 1 teaspoon minced onions
  • 1 teaspoon poppy seeds

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F and butter a 9×13″ baking dish.
  • Slice Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally using a large bread knife. Make sure to keep the rolls connected to each other while cutting. Once sliced, remove the top section and place on a cutting board.
  • Add bottom section to your baking dish. Spread mayo onto the insides of both the bottom and top sections. Then place a slice of ham and cheese on each roll in the bottom section. Add top roll section back to baking dish and evenly match up.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the butter, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder and poppy seeds. Pour evenly over all of the rolls. Let sit about 10 minutes for sauce to soak in.
  • Cover ham sliders with foil and bake for 10-15 minutes. Uncover and cook an additional 2-5 minutes to brown the top of the rolls. Best served while warm.
