Our trip to The Grand at Fairhope

We were looking for something fun to do for a couple of days between Christmas and New Years this year and we didn’t want to have to travel far.  We decided to book two nights at The Grand in Point Clear which we love and have friends that live 5 minutes away from there.

We drove over for lunchtime on a Wednesday and met them at one of our favorite lunch spots with kids, The grill at Sunset Pointe.  After lunch, it still wasn’t quite check-in time, so we ended up at their house and the kids decided it was warm enough to jump in their pool.   The pool was not heated and I don’t know how they handled it, but they really did swim!

The kids were so excited and we had arranged for a babysitter at our friends house.  So the kids actually got to have a slumber party at their house while the parents went out to dinner for the night! We had dinner at the Wash House which I love.  It was my second time eating there and I have had a great meal both times.  Order the steak and ask to sit in the red room.  The ambiance is charming and it’s right down the street from the Grand.  You can even schedule valet to drive you there and pick you up.

Thursday was our only full day there.  I had tried to sneak away to the spa for a quick service because I absolutely love their spa, but everything was booked. I was so sad! But we woke up and went to brunch at the hotel.  They set up a nice buffet every morning at one of their restaurants.

After breakfast, we went out to the greens and the kids played putt putt and we played a little corn hole too.  They have several different games set out on their lawns for kids and family.

It was warm, so we decided to change into our swimsuits and give the pool area a shot.  It is such a cool area with several pools, a slide, splash pad and hot tubs; but everything was sooo cold!  The kids didn’t have a problem with it and managed to play for awhile and I mostly stuck to the hot tub!

The slide was a hit!

It was a little gloomy on this day, but they do have a cute little beach area to sit and relax if you like!

I have compiled a list of some of my favorite things to do in Fairhope and places to eat, so I will do a travel guide for you guys soon if anyone is interested in this cute, quaint little area.  You can read some of our previous trips to Fairhope, below.   I love this little hotel for a quick little girls getaway!
