Our Weekend in Las Vegas

I can’t believe it has already been two weeks since I left for Las Vegas!! I guess it has taken me that long just to recover from trip!

We planned our trip to Vegas to celebrate Matt’s 50th birthday!  The timing of it worked out perfectly because every year my husband travels to Vegas for a work trip called the International Builders Show.  They go with a group of people from work and this year, we were just able to piggyback on that trip!

It was the first time we were both leaving all three kids behind and we definitely had to do some juggling with grandma’s and sitters to make it happen and cover 3 kids, but it was so worth it!

My Sister-in-law and I were supposed to fly out on Wednesday to meet them out there and unfortunately due to fog in Pensacola, are flight was cancelled.  We were so bummed and I spent most of the day trying to figure out if there was another way and it just didn’t work.  They put us on another flight first thing Thursday morning which was fine but it just meant we only had one full day in Vegas and two nights.  It’s a pretty long way to go for a short trip, but it all worked out!

This was me all ready to walk out the door to Vegas just to get the text from the airline to say our flight was cancelled 😢

Then Thursday morning when my alarm was supposed to go off at 5am, somehow I must have turned it off!! Thank goodness my SIL called me twice to wake me up or else I would have missed this flight! I would have just cried!

We were in Dallas about breakfast time and found a spot to get something to eat and treat ourselves to a mimosa! The bartender brought our mimosas out and then asked for our IDS.  We saw her staring at them and then walk away.  My gut dropped and I thought?? OMG is my license expired?  I had just had my birthday.  And, yes.  She walked back over and took my mimosa away and said, “I’m sorry.  I can’t serve this to you!”

I just had to laugh a little bit but then panic about what I was going to do when I got to Vegas.  Thankfully, I just had to wing it when I got there and I never had any trouble.  Same with TSA on the way home!

When we were headed to our flight to Vegas from Dallas, we found out it could be delayed up to 3 hours because of snow in Las Vegas.  It never snows in Vegas, but of course it was this day.  So we posted up at a really cute wine bar across from our gate and started our own vacation!!

We made it to Vegas and checked into the Bellagio.   It’s always so beautiful and decorated with the most gorgeous flowers.

We actually dropped our bags off with the bellman real quickly and ran over to the Poker Room at the Aria to go watch my oldest brother in a tournament that he was in and had made it to the final table.

It was really neat to watch (he’s in the purple button down) because we were right there in the room with him as they were filming it all.  He got 2nd place in the tournament!

We grabbed a late lunch and then went back to check out our room.  If you saw on Instastories, my brothers upgraded our room to a suite for my hubby’s birthday.  It was super nice and so fun with gorgeous views.

Thats a TV coming out of a piece of furniture at the end of the bed.

We had about 15 of us headed to dinner at TAO in the Venetian Hotel.  The hotel was really pretty and the food at TAO was amazing.  We ended up picking this spot because it was an easy way to go to a nightclub with a big group of people.  So we had dinner and then they let us straight into the nightclub upstairs for free and through a special line so we didn’t have to wait!

I loved this dress so much from RTR.  I kind of wanted to purchase it, but I didn’t and I can’t decide if I regret it or not.

Friday was our only full day in Vegas, so my SIL and I were dying to fit in a spa treatment.  We made sure to go early and get a nice steam and hot tub action too!  I love taking my time in the hotel Spas.

Afterwards, we went and met the boys in Downtown Vegas- Fremont Street.  I had never been down there (about a 25 min cab ride), but it looks like they have tried to improve the area and they had some cool little restaurants and things.

We got home from downtown just in time to change and get ready for our last big night!!

The men all brought tuxedos for the evening and the women long dresses and we had a RAT PACK NIGHT.  For those that don’t know, the Rat Pack included Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra and Sammie Davis Jr.  They put on a small show just off the strip and Matt wanted to go to that plus have dinner at the Sinatra’s Italian restaurant at Encore.

We had everyone get ready a little early and come to our room for drinks before we left. I gave them all some 50th Birthday loot and off we went!

We hopped in a limo (they are everywhere in Vegas) and then headed to the show.

After the show, we went to Encore and it was really pretty and the Sinatra restaurant was SO GOOD.  Food was delicious.

It was a happy happy birthday celebration indeed!  One for the books with some great memories! I have always LOVED Vegas and I feel like you either are a Vegas person or you are not.  But I hadn’t been in almost 7 years since I celebrated my Bachelorette party there!!
