Our Christmas 2022

I am always behind with these recaps from the month of December, but I wanted to share a little of our Christmas holiday on the blog! Here’s a quick recap of our few days before Christmas this year. Sorry, its heavy on the pictures.

December 23rd

On the 23rd of December, we have a family tradition where we have an adult-only dinner.  It’s always really fun to actually get to visit and have a nice dinner.  We have gone out to restaurants some in the past, but a few years ago, my Brother and SIL started hosting us at their house and it makes it even more fun!! This is a tradition my Mom’s parents use to have in New Orleans and she’s carried it on with us.

Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve this year, we had Matt’s family over for a fun Christmas Eve lunch and exchanging of gifts!  We picked up lunch from the Scenic Diner which was awesome and so easy.  We picked up the Sensational Salad and the Crawfish Savannah which was perfect for a big group.  It was a short and sweet visit but we were so glad to be able to celebrate with them in person.

Christmas Day

We start our Christmas morning with our family and let the kids know that they have to wait until 730am before they can come downstairs!! Is that mean? ha! I like the day to last and I hate the idea of all of Christmas to be over by 7am!  So Matt or Brody play Santa for the morning and I make them do one gift at a time once they have seen played with their Santa gifts that are mostly left unwrapped.

Our favorite breakfast casserole we make every year.  I usually make a couple of other things, but this year I just ran out of time!

Around 1pm, we get ourselves out of our pajamas and my family comes over and we exchange gifts and start apps and pop some champagne!

After gifts, we visit and sit down for an early dinner or late lunch as a family!

Post Christmas

The day after Christmas, my brother that lives in Miami came and surprised us for two days! It was so fun to see them and have all the cousins together!  We kept things casual during their visit.  Hit up Lagunas for ropes course and go carts, took my nephew to the skate board park and had pizza.

A few days in Fairhope

We took a few days the week after Christmas to go visit some friends in Fairhope and go to the new indoor waterpark over there called Tropic Falls at OWA.  It was fun to spend a few days with them and take the kids to a couple of fun outdoor parks too.

We even snuck in a fun adult birthday dinner to celebrate one of our friends!

That’s a wrap for the holidays.  We came home from Fairhope just in time to celebrate NYE at home.
