Scenes From Our Weekend

Happy Monday, friends! We had a pretty busy weekend and by Sunday I’m pretty sure I had over-done it! I’ve been enjoying staying busy at the end of this pregnancy because it helps pass the time faster, but then I’m quickly reminded that I need to slow down a bit and I can’t go as much as I’m used to.

Thursday night my Mama came over for dinner and we cooked this delicious recipe from Half Baked Harvest.  It was brown butter scallops over a bacon, avocado and corn salad.  I would highly recommend this one if you can get good scallops.  We loved it.

On Friday, I dropped the kiddos off at school, came home to get a few things done and then met some friends for lunch out at the beach.  Emily and I snapped a quick selfie before leaving, but it was such a fun lunch.

I picked the kiddos up from school, put Madelyn down for a nap and then me and Brody got some baking done.  We ended up making two cakes.  A friend of mine sent me a photo this week of her trying to bake the White Wine Bundt Cake and it turned out a crumbled mess!!  I was dying laughing, but felt horrible.  Thankfully she had a great sense of humor about it too.  So of course I had to bake it again and see if there were any better tips that I could give for making this cake.  I’m honestly no baker at all, but I can usually follow a recipe.  We laughed and blamed it on her consuming too much of the white wine that she used to cook the cake 🙂

Friday night my MIL came over to babysit and Matt and I were headed to a party to welcome Emily and Bryan Ley to Pensacola.  It was a fun get together hosted by her lifelong childhood friend, new home builder and interior designer.  It was so fun and a great way for them to meet a few new couples.

Saturday morning we went to breakfast and a quick trip to Lowes.  It seems like that has become a Saturday morning ritual lately.  My hubby always needs something from Lowes.  This trip was fun because ALL the Halloween decorations were already out.  The kids had a blast squeezing all the things and acting half scared and half loving it.

Saturday afternoon we met some friends at an event at the Yacht Club.  They had a bounce house for the kids, face painting and then we stayed for dinner.  It was so nice because it stayed over-cast the whole afternoon, so it wasn’t too hot.

Saturday night I woke up with horrible acid reflux again and throw up.  I forgot how hard the last couple of weeks of pregnancy can be.  I literally lie down at night and I can’t get comfortable.  The acid reflux starts and my legs tingle so bad with restless legs.  I just toss and turn forever!  Then add in the peeing every few hours and sleep is becoming a lot rougher.

We kept Sunday pretty low key.  Matt took Brody out for a bit so me and Madelyn got to nap!  We have a busy week ahead of us as I have tried to pack all my appointments into this week in case baby decides to come around 39 weeks like Madelyn did.  It seems crazy to think this could be our last full week before baby comes.  I head to doc on Tuesday for my 38 week appointment, so maybe I’ll have some more news then 🙂

  1. The funny thing is my parent’s bought the grim reaper blow up from Lowe’s last year! It is as tall as their flag pole. They love to decorate for holidays and were in a competition against the neighbors so it had to come home.

  3. Sounds like a fun packed weekend! Miss Andi would not go anywhere near that thing or the creepy life-size witch that our Lowes had out! haha!
